Autumn 2
For the second half of the half term we will start by reading the book 'Dear Earth' by Isabel Otter. We will be exploring the text in depth and using the themes within it to write our own letters. As part of this we will be continuing to develop our grammatical skills and incorporating them into our writing.
After this we will be delving into another book based on our 'What a wonderful World' topic called 'The Giant Artic Jellyfish.' We will use the book to write out own non chronological reports about an animal.
Autumn 1
To kick start our time in Year 3 we will be reading the story of 'The Iron Man.' We will be using this to help us develop our character and setting descriptions. Additionally we will learn how to create a feeling of tension when writing our own threat narrative.
For the remaining time we will be studying 'The Wisp' by Zana Fraillon which is a book centred around lightness and darkness with the theme of hope. We will incorporate our grammar learning to re-tell the story of Idris and his experiences with the Wisp.
