Online Safeguarding

Here at Ribbleton we want to ensure children are taught how to use our amazing technology safely. We want our children to be masters of technology, not slaves to it! As such children have a stand alone online safety lesson every half term where they look in detail at one aspect of online safety. These are then fed into every lesson where technology is used, whether it be safe searching, plagiarism, social media or using our SMART rules.

You can read an online safety guide made with the help of all the children in school here

Once a year we send out a free Digital Parenting Magazine with the latest online safety guidance. Archived online copies can be found here.

Below you can find leaflets to help keep your children safe online as well as some useful websites.

The children learn about lots about being safe on the internet using Google's Be Internet Legends programme. Be Internet Legends is a free programme from Google, which empowers Primary School children to use the web safely and wisely, so they can be confident explorers of the online world. Be Internet Legends was designed with support from leading experts in internet safety, including Parent Zone, Internet Matters and CEOP. There is a game, Interland, children can play to consolidate their learning across 4 areas: Being Internet Kind, Being Internet Sharp, Being Internet Alert and Being Internet Secure. You can find out more about this, and find a link to Interland the online game, here. https://beinternetlegends.withgoogle.com/en_uk

You can find our school policies regarding online safety at the link below
