Please Note: The DfE does not consider a need or desire for a holiday or other absence for the purpose of leisure and recreation to be an exceptional circumstance.

Holiday requests :-

School are not permitted to authorise any holiday requests during term time. However, any requests that may fall in to an exceptional circumstance will be looked at on an individual basis and proof will be requested. Eg medical proof, religious proof, dates of booking, outbound and return flights. Parents MUST discuss any requests with the school before taking time off and an absence form will need to be completed. Amendments were made to the 2006 regulations in the ‘Education Regulations 2013’ and these came into force on 1st September 2013. They remove any reference to family holiday leave as well as the threshold of ten school days. The amendments make clear that headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Any absences that do not meet any exceptional circumstance will be issued with a fixed penalty fine.
