SENDIASS

The Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS) offers free, confidential and impartial information, advice and support for children and young people with SEND and their parents or carers.

The service supports families of children and young people aged 0–25 and aims to help parents, carers and young people understand SEND processes, rights and available support.

SENDIASS can help with:

  • Understanding SEND law and the SEND Code of Practice
  • SEN Support in schools
  • Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Annual Reviews
  • School meetings and reviews
  • Exclusions and attendance concerns
  • Communication with schools and the Local Authority
  • Understanding reports and paperwork
  • Transition between schools or settings
  • Supporting children and young people to express their views

The service is independent, confidential and impartial, meaning they provide unbiased advice to help families make informed decisions about their child’s education and support.

SENDIASS also works directly with children and young people to ensure their voice is heard and they are involved in decisions about their education and future.
