Homework will be sent home every Friday and should be completed and returned by the following Wednesday. Each child will receive paper copies of their homework and a folder to keep everything safe and organised.
Please ensure that your child returns their folder to school with their completed homework so that the following week’s tasks can be added.
Each week, your child will be given a set of spellings to practise at home as part of their homework. Spellings will be sent home on Friday, and the spelling test will take place the following Friday.
Regular practice makes a real difference, so please encourage your child to practise their spellings several times throughout the week.
Please ensure that your child brings their reading book and reading record to school every day.
Children may change their home reading book on any school day. To do this, they should place their book and reading record in the correct basket when they arrive in the morning.
We ask that you read with your child at least three times each week and discuss the book together to help develop their understanding. Please sign the reading record after each reading session. Books can only be changed when the reading record has been signed by an adult.
Our PE lesson takes place every Monday afternoon. Children should come to school wearing their full PE kit and will remain in it for the whole day.
For safety reasons, earrings must be removed before children arrive at school on PE days.
Every other Thursday morning, the children will take part in an outdoor education session and an additional PE lesson.
On these days, children should come to school wearing suitable outdoor clothing. They may get muddy, so old clothes and weather-appropriate layers are recommended. During colder or wetter weather, a waterproof coat and wellies are essential.
Please also send a pair of trainers or school shoes for your child to change into afterwards.
