This term, our topic is called Inside Out and we will be learning about what happens inside our bodies and exploring an exciting country in the wider world. In science, the children will learn about the digestive system, including how food travels through the body and how different organs help us break down food and use nutrients. We will also learn about teeth, their different jobs and how to keep them healthy. In geography, we will be studying Iceland, locating it on a map and exploring its amazing physical features, such as volcanoes, glaciers, mountains, waterfalls and geysers. We will also look at human features, including towns, homes, transport and how people live in Iceland. Through maps, diagrams, investigations and discussion, the children will build their knowledge of both the human body and the world around them.

This term, our topic is called Full Steam Ahead and we will be learning all about how Preston changed during the Victorian era and the Industrial Revolution. We will explore who Queen Victoria was and why her reign was so important. The children will investigate how Preston grew from a small market town into a busy industrial town by looking at historical maps, photographs and real Victorian censuses. We will also learn about the lives of working-class families and children during this time, including jobs in mills and factories, schooling and daily life. Through exciting history lessons, discussions and creative activities, the children will develop a deeper understanding of how life in Preston has changed over time.
