    Teachers Strike Action

    Dear Parents and Carers,

You are probably aware of the pending strike action by teachers nationally. The proposed dates are Wednesday 1st February, Tuesday 28th February, Wednesday 15th March and Thursday 16th March.

At this stage, I am unable to determine how this will affect classes in our school as staff do not have to inform me of their intention to strike. If school cannot open safely to children, there may be a need for a full or partial closure. With advance warning, you may wish to think about contingency childcare plans in the event that the strike action affects your child. I will communicate any developments as soon as I am able to.

  • Fire Safety Y3

Wed 29 Jun 2022 Mrs Tipton

Year 3 enjoyed a safety talk from Lancashire Fire and Rescue on Tuesday. It was a  very informative and important talk about fire safety. If you want a free home fire safety check please visit https://www.lancsfirerescue.org.uk/contact-us/home-fire-safety/

  • Commemorative coin competition

Wed 22 Jun 2022 Mrs Tipton

Well done to Natalia in 4R who won our competition to design a commemorative coin for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Every child in school designed a coin to commemorate this remarkable milestone and the digital leaders in Year 6 chose their favourite.

Natalia’s design is now being printed on our 3D printer as a memento of the event for every pupil. Hopefully these will be sent home over the next few weeks.

A coin has also been posted to the Queen as well! We hope she likes it too.

  • Special visitor - Chris Lubbe

Wed 22 Jun 2022 Mrs Tipton

Yesterday Year 5 and 6 were honoured to receive a visit from Chris Lubbe, a former bodyguard of Nelson Mandela. He spoke to our children about the hardships he has faced during his life, including growing up in South Africa during apartheid and the racism, aggression and segregation he has unfortunately seen. He told the children how this inspired him to stand up for what is right and to challenge what is wrong, leading him to work for Nelson Mandela. The children learned so much and left the talk feeling truly inspired to change the world for the better! A true inspiration and we are so grateful to Chris for taking the time to come and see us. The children also did us proud with their respectful listening during the talk

  • Our deepest sympathy's extended to Mr Moran and his family at this time

Fri 18 Mar 2022 Mrs Nickson

It is with great sadness that I share with you all, the tragic passing of Mr Moran’s beloved son Jack, on Tuesday evening.

‘Our Jack’, as he is known throughout school, has been a frequent visitor among us over the years and was a popular and well-liked member of the extended RAMJS family. With a similar personality to his father, Andy, his cheery nature regularly lifted out spirits and made us smile.

The sadness felt throughout school has been overwhelming and words can not convey the sorrow we are feeling for the loss of this wonderful young man.

On behalf of his family, Andy would like to thank the RAMJS community for their words of condolence. He is taking strength from the love and kindness he has received in recent days and knows that he remains in all our hearts, hopes and prayers.

    Rest in Peace ‘Our Jack’

“Your memory is our keepsake, with which we will never part.

God has you in his keeping but we will keep you in our hearts.”

  • Wear Blue and Yellow for Ukraine

Tue 15 Mar 2022 Mrs Nickson

We are inviting children to wear Yellow and Blue tomorrow if they wish to do so and any donations received via Parent Pay will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee who will use the money to support those families in crisis.

    https://www.dec.org.uk/

Children not wishing to take part must be in full school uniform.

  • Snapchat

Thu 10 Mar 2022 Mrs Nickson

    Dear Parents and Carers,

We are dealing with repeated incidents involving Snapchat and inappropriate content being sent throughout school.  These incidents are occurring outside of school time but coming into school as unresolved incidents that staff are having to manage.

Children at times are being particularly unkind and we are experiencing an increase in children reporting feeling sad, anxious and upset following conversations that have gotten out of control.

These incidents are impacting on our pupils confidence and wellbeing so please remind your children about safe use and kind words.

I have included some information about managing Snapchat as it is an app many school staff are unaware of how to use.

Please consider the appropriateness of this app for your children as the age limit is 13+.

Snapchat deletes messages as soon as they have been seen so it is nearly impossible as a parent to see what may have been sent by your child or to your child unless it has been screenshot.  We greatly appreciate your continued support.

    Kindest Regards

Mrs Nickson and the RAMJS Team

  • Parking

    Wed 02 Mar 2022

    Parents/Carers,

Please can you avoid driving down Emerson Road when dropping your children off, you can park on Morrisons car park and walk through. We are having lots of complaints from our neighbours, traffic congestion and most importantly we are concerned for the safety of our children who walk to school. Thank you for your co-operation.
