We have been having lots of fun with augmented reality this week, creating Christmas scenes in our classrooms as well as creating talking Christmas avatars.

Enjoy!

Merry Christmas

Year 4 are currently learning all about rivers. They designed water drop pictures to come to life with a water drop avatar to introduce their interactive classroom display about the journey of a river. Here are a few examples.

Children have been learning about Spain and have compared the weather conditions to Preston. The children then created weather forecast scripts and recorded them in front of the greenscreen and using the doink app they added a map background.

Children in Year 4 are aiming to create a 'how to video' during their computing lessons during the first half of the Spring term. They will be making avatars using Voki, green screening technology to edit images and movie maker to create their video explaining how to make an electric circuit. Come back soon to see the final product!

During the second half of the Spring term we have been looking at research using search engines. To begin the topic Mrs Tipton presented us with various websites to research and make notes from. What none of us noticed were that they were fake 'spoof' sites filled with false information. We now know to check the websites we are using carefully, looking for clues on their reliability.  Here are a few examples:

https://zapatopi.net/treeoctopus/

http://timetunnel.bigredhair.com/robots/index.html

We then went onto looking at how search engines work and how to search the web effectively.

We  used all these skills to research Spain and even walked the streets of some beautiful cities in Europe using Google Earth.

We then sent postcards home from our travels!!

Finally we used our research to write weather forecasts for the Costa Del Sol in Spain and recorded our broadcasts using the iPads infront of a green screen.

Come back to see the final edits soon!
